Pictures from Aal Hallingdal, Norway

from Whammy's trip to Norway, Summer 2006. Aal is located in Buskerud County between Geilo and Gol.

Video of the Aal brushfire 6/16/2006 at the bottom of the page.

Here is a picture of the hill (and part of the "Hallingfrakt" building) from where I was standing on Kuluvegan Road.

Here are some pictures of the river that runs through the center of the town...

...and the bridge I was standing on to take this picture.

Go across the bridge and up the road a little and you will find several of these signs..."Farts Demparar" means "Bumps Ahead" in Norwegian (I find it funny that it looks like butt cheeks and says "Farts" on the sign).

Here is a picture of the town from the side of the mountain (forgive the trees, I was in a car when I took this picture).

This is the road I was on...

...heres a better picture after I was out of the trees.

I found it very difficult to sleep while I was in Norway...here is a picture of the sky in Norway at about 11:45 PM...

As an NSB CargoNet train went by, it let off sparks and started a brushfire right behind the house we were staying in. THANK YOU SO MUCH NSB! NSB is "Norges Stat Banner" or "Norwegian State Railways". Luckily Hallingdal's fire department put out the fire before it burnt the house down (which would of sucked, because my grandfather built the house himself). We were joking about my Uncle, Biggin Rust, lighting the fire to make us leave, because he works for NSB's Aal Station. The people you hear talking is me (Whammy), my cousin Mette Rust, and Ma Baker (my mother).
